According to the Asbury Park Press, firefighters battled a fire at a three-story apartment building on Friday, as well as fighting off harsh heat conditions. The fire was reported at 10:15 am and was contained to one room, but due to triple digit temperatures hitting the area, companies from five nearby Monmouth County communities were called. No injuries were reported and all of the occupants were out on arrival, Fire Chief Al Sico verified.

Firefighters fought heat and intense smoke on the third floor and eventually, the blaze was extinguished. However, because it had spread to furniture, carpets, and papers in the apartment, firefighters remained on the scene for an hour to ensure the fire was out. 60 firefighters from Asbury Park, Sea Bright, and Monmouth Beach responded while firefighters from Oceanport and Fort Monmouth responded as the Rapid Intervention Team (RIT). RIT are the respondents who rescue firefighters if they should become trapped in a fire, especially one with multiple stories. As a precaution, the fire department set up misting machines to help firefighters cool down from the heat, Sico said.

He said firefighters worked in 10 to 12 minute shifts because of the intense heat from the day. While they were cooling in front of the fans, another team of firefighters would go into the building. The chief said the heat of the day plus the insulation of the protective gear and the strenuous work seemed “like a sauna’’ for firefighters. The fire was investigated by the fire department later and determined to have been accidental.

No matter where you call home, it is important to keep your property safe from harm just like you would your loved ones. This is why at Dickstein Associates Agency, we are committed to providing you with the best condo insurance NJ has to offer! We can offer you everything you need in order to remain safe from damages that may occur.

If you own a townhome or condo, you have different New Jersey insurance needs than the typical homeowner. Not only do you own your individual condo, you also share ownership in the common areas and overall structure of your building. If shared areas need maintenance, your association will typically handle the expense through their commercial insurance package. While your association dues help pay for upkeep of the common areas, they do not typically cover your personal property within your own unit, or your liability if someone is injured on your property. This is why our agency will help alleviate the burdens involved with a condo residency.

Our condominium insurance provides protection where condo associations do not. Condo and townhome coverage protects your possessions within your unit, including furniture, appliances, kitchen and bath facilities, and your personal items. If you plan on upgrading your unit, any improvements you make will also be covered under your policy, including wall units, renovations, and wallpaper. Now whenever an accident comes your way, you can have peace of mind with superior condo insurance in NJ!
