Promoting Nutrition in Your Wellness Plan

We all know that being fit is an important part of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Staying active by playing sports, running, dancing or otherwise raising your heart rate with physical activity plays a huge role in your health. However, there is another huge part that involves the fuel we put into our bodies. Eating the right foods can have a dramatic effect on your energy levels and overall health. Changing your eating habits may seem like a difficult task. Here are some tips to help you eat healthier:

  • Don’t eliminate foods, add better ones. Sometimes you need a different perspective. Instead of thinking of what you cannot have, think of all the exciting new flavors you can try. Take the opportunity to browse the produce section and try that dragon fruit or papaya.bowl of fruit photo
  • Get help from friends. As with any lifestyle change, you want to surround yourself with supportive friends and loved ones who will help lift you up. Ask one of your friends to take the journey with you. It could be beneficial to both of you.
  • Find a hobby that does not involve food. Try your hand at birdwatching, needlepoint or something else that appeals to you.
  • Don’t allow yourself to get hungry. Always have a healthy snack available so you won’t be tempted to eat something that goes against your wellness plan.
  • Drink more water. Water can help curb your hunger as well as aid with digestion. Staying well hydrated can keep you energized as well.
  • Allow yourself to splurge every once in a while. Don’t be too hard on yourself if you slip and eat something you know you shouldn’t. Enjoy it and move on.

If you need help forming a wellness plan for yourself and your family, we can put you in touch with the right people at your health insurance carrier’s office. Have a safe and healthy summer.
