Is Disability Insurance a Vital Investment for your Family?

NJ disability insurance is a vital insurance policy to consider, especially if you’re the main income earner in the family. While workers’ compensation may provide an income for you if you’re injured while on the job, it doesn’t apply to injuries sustained on your own time.

While in the case of some injuries other types of insurance may come into play – auto insurance for example – this certainly isn’t always the case. For instance, if you are diagnosed with a serious illness that is not work related and nobody is liable for causing your illness, then unless you have disability insurance (and a good health plan), you may have limited resources to call upon.

In the case on an illness requiring ongoing treatment and/or requiring a lengthy recovery period before you have any hope of returning to work, the bills don’t stop with medical ones. You may still need to meet mortgage repayments or pay the rent and someone has to pay the regular household bills.

Depending on the NJ disability insurance your employer offers, it may be beneficial to purchase your own policy, especially if you’re considering a long term policy. Contact your insurance agent for more information on purchasing private disability insurance coverage.
