NJ Disability Insurance – A Vital Consideration

It may be a difficult decision choosing which insurance policies are essential purchases, but one policy you should seriously consider is NJ disability insurance. This type of insurance may replace a portion of your regular income if you’re injured or become disabled and are unable to work.

Here is a brief summary of the two basic types of disability insurance:

•Short term disability insurance. Usually, this type of disability insurance begins on the first day of the disabling event. However, the policy holder must be under the care of a certified health professional for the benefits to be payable. After one hundred and eighty days or approximately six months short term disability insurance usually ceases.
•Long term disability insurance. Should a policy holder be unable to attend to your work duties due to an accident or illness, long term disability insurance might provide coverage until the policy holder can return to work or until he or she reaches retirement age.

Be aware that with both types of NJ disability insurance there is a processing period before you can expect a benefit to be paid, regardless of when your policy is supposed to kick in. While the protection of disability insurance may be a vital consideration, there may be numerous conditions, so ensure you fully understand your choice of policy before you make a final decision.
