Kids, Spring, and Safety

Spring has arrived in New Jersey and it’s time for some fun in the sun! Don’t run to the beach too fast, you may want to check a few things first.

  • The Health Check – A visit to the doctor is a great idea during the peak allergy season. Finding out if your child suffers from allergies can help prevent absences from school and establish a healthy start to summer.
  • The Helmet Check – Warmer weather means bike season! Make sure your child’s helmet is in mint condition to prevent any injuries. If a helmet has already experienced a fall, chances are it is not in good condition and should be replaced to prevent injury.
  • The Playground Check – After NJ’s harsh winter, it’s important to make sure any play equipment your children use is in good condition. Assess damages and see if it still works properly. Also, while surveying your property, check for uneven sidewalks that could result in a potential accident.
  • The Skin Check – Even on a cloudy day the sun’s rays still have a damaging effect on our skin. Using a sunscreen with a high SPF will help prevent burns and skin damage. Sunglasses and a hat are other great things you can have your child wear to block the sun’s harmful rays.
  • The Water Check – Whether your kids are on a soccer team or playing at the beach it’s important to stay hydrated. Purchasing a reusable water bottle for your child will encourage them to drink more water throughout the day.
