Hurricane Deductibles will NOT apply to NJ Home Insurance. NJ Department of Insurance issued Bulletin 11-16.

The New Jersey Department of Banking & Insurance issued Bulletin 11-16 yesterday advising ALL insurers transacting NJ Homeowners’ insurance that application of a Hurricane Deductible for property claims related to Hurricane Irene shall be considered a violation of N.J.A.C. 11:2-42.7.  This applies to every home insurance NJ policy in connection with Hurricane Irene and the use of mandatory or optional Hurricane Deductibles.
